The 2023 World Baseball Classic (WBC) is rapidly approaching. Several Brewers will be participating in the event including Devin Williams, Sal Frelick, Abraham Toro, Luis Urias and Rowdy Tellez. On Thursday, every country announced their rosters for the WBC. Two current Brewers will be playing for the Dominican Republic, shortstop Willy Adames and relief pitcher Joel Payamps.
Willy Adames is on the Dominican Republic’s roster for the World Baseball Classic. As is reliever Joel Payamps.

Adames indicated last month at the Brewers Hot Stove and Cold Brews event that he had interest in playing in the WBC, saying it would be a dream come true. It is now confirmed that he will get this opportunity.
“As of right now, I’m 100% willing to go. I’m just waiting to see. I think time will tell if I’m going or not, but I’m always willing to play and represent my country. It would be a great experience for me and my family, so we’ll see how it goes. It would be a dream come true.”
Payamps will also be representing Team Dominican Republic. Payamps was acquired via trade earlier this offseason in the same deal that yielded the Brewers William Contreras and Justin Yeager. His decision to play is a bit more interesting. He is out of minor league options, and there is a lot of uncertainty regarding which relievers will make the Brewers' Opening Day roster out of camp.
Freddy Peralta elected to not pitch in the 2023 WBC. Like Payamps and Adames, he would have represented the Dominican Republic.
