Robert Horry Revealed The Crazy Spot Where He Hides His 7 NBA Championship Rings
Bob Donnan-USA TODAY Sports

Robert Horry spoke about the hiding spot for his 7 NBA championship rings.

There is a lot of nuance to basketball and beauty to the game, but at the NBA level, one thing matters more than anything else. The name of the game for every player is to win NBA championships, and while being a star is also a big goal, many players have found a role for themselves that has led to a lot of success and many rings.

In the modern era of the NBA, no player has more rings than Robert Horry. Big Shot Bob won 7 championships, 2 with the Houston Rockets, 3 with the Los Angeles Lakers, and then 2 with the San Antonio Spurs. No other player in NBA history who didn't play for the Boston Celtics during the 50s and the 60s can claim as many as Horry.

He has spoken in the past about how it's foolish to use rings as a measure of greatness. Horry is proud of his accomplishments, as anyone can and should be, but he also recognizes that there is a lot more to the game. And perhaps he should have cared a little more, as he once revealed his hiding spot for his rings and how they had nearly gone missing in his house.

Big Shot Bob Opened Up On His Wild Hiding Spot For His Rings

Now, most players that win even one ring would display it as well as they could in a room with some other memorabilia. But winning 7 of them makes them lose their charm a little, as evidenced by how Horry kept his. He revealed once that not only did he keep them in a spot in his bathroom, he had almost lost them in the process of moving as well (via Slam).

“The recently retired Horry said a recent move has left his rings MIA and he believes movers may have placed his jewelry box amongst dozens of unopened boxes, against his orders. ‘I never wear them and the thing is, I don’t know where they are,’ he said on a conference call to recall playoff memories. ‘I just moved and they are in a box somewhere. The movers weren’t supposed to touch it, but they touched it, but I am hoping they are in the house somewhere. I usually keep them in the bathroom in a drawer.'”

The fact that he kept them in a drawer in his bathroom goes to show that Horry's memories of the game are more precious to him than the material things he won. There's some wisdom to be found in this, perhaps, but I think most people would simply urge Big Shot Bob to take better care of his hard-won rings.
