NHL bets: Two plus-money props for playoff puck tonight

We split our two NHL plays yesterday, but did cash a +150 to make it all worth it. As we head into a fresh night on the ice, I'm focusing in some more plus-money looks for our hockey fix this evening.

.5u: Jordan Staal goal (+650 FanDuel)

Let the record show what I'd really love to be doing here is betting Jordan Staal's shots or his point, but sportsbooks aren't offering either, so here I am backing him in the only fashion I see fit.

Before I get to my individual love for Staal tonight, we should discuss this game. The Hurricanes are heading home down 0-2 in the series, which to me is a perfect recipe for Carolina to up the intensity. I do think the Canes can take a game here and make this a series, so I'm far more drawn to that end for the day.

Staal has 11 shots on 17 attempts in two games this series, and nine of those SOGs came in regulation. This is an uptick I need to be a part of, especially when you see that the Carolina captain tops the team in expected goals (1.36) this series, and high-danger scoring chances (8).

Betting his goal is really the only path I see to follow the volume he's been operating with.

.75u: Logan Stankoven point (+135 ESPN BET/DraftKings)

I'm stubbornly giving Logan Stankoven another look today. Stankoven has only two points this postseason, but he has consistently looked like one of the better players on the ice for Dallas.

In Game 1 against Colorado, Stankoven led the Stars in even-strength shots, expected goals and high-danger chances, and that passes the eye test.

Stankoven now has 5+ attempts in three straight games, so whether this comes as a goal or via assist, I am expecting the young forward to continue generating chances for this offense.

The Stars have been tinkering with lines a ton before and during their games of late, but there appears to be a chance that Stankoven rejoins Jamie Benn and Wyatt Johnston on a line tonight. There were long stretches where that was Dallas's strongest trio, so I'd love to see it for the sake of this prop.

Dallas should be pushing the pace to find some goals at home here and avoid an 0-2 hole, I'm liking this to be a high-scoring game again.
