Newcastle United identified Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea's distribution as a weakness straight away.

When the two sides met at the weekend, the Magpies were dominant, winning 2-0 and creating all the meaningful chances in the game.

Midfielder Jacob Murphy admits that early in the clash, they were aware that De Gea was struggling with his passing out from the back.

Their first goal kick, De Gea was taking a while," Murphy told Rio Ferdinand on the Vibe with Five YouTube channel.

This is a bit unusual; he was taking his time with it, he was asking everyone to go up field, then hit long.

They were just taking a while, lots of pointing, I could sense from that, we were going to have a good game from there."
